2019 Election: Senate Approves N53 Billion For Security Agencies

The Senate on Tuesday approved a total sum of N53.2 billion for security agencies for the 2019 general elections.

The senate also approved that the money be vired from both the recurrent and capital components of the Special Intervention Programme captured in the Service Wide Vote of the 2018 Appropriation Act.

Chairman of the committee, Sen. Danjuma Goje while presenting the report said though President Muhammadu Buhari had requested for more, the senate having considered the request decided to prune down the cost.

According to the final approved report, N9.5 billion was approved for the office of the National Security Adviser NSA, N2.6 billion for Immigration, N10.2 billion for the Department of State Service DSS, N27.3 billion for the Nigeria Police Force NPF and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp got NSCDC, N3.6 billion.
