No fewer than 35 traditional rulers in Nigeria and Ghana as well as 20 Archbishops and Bishops from denominational churches have confirmed their desire to attend the 18th coronation anniversary of the spiritual leader of Brotherhood of the Cross and Star next week in Calabar.
The head of Traditional Rulers Fellowship (TRF), a body comprises of monarchs who are Christians, His Royal Majesty E. N. P. Opurum who is the Ichie of Etche Community of Rivers State disclosed this.
He said the number was likely to be higher as they have 130 members on their nominal roll, adding that there are many that will fly in from Ghana and few other countries to be part of the grandeur.
He said the spiritual leader is not just their patron but their leader whom they have profound regards for.
According to him, the 18th coronation of His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu as the King of kings of Brotherhood of the Cross and Star was very significant because he has impacted them individually and collectively and has used his status to bolster socioeconomic and religious development in Nigeria.
“I can confirm that we the registered traditional rulers in our body both in Nigeria and outside will proudly identify with the upcoming celebration of the coronation anniversary of His Holiness. Of course, every year we come together to grace the celebration.
“Already 50 from the 130 members have confirmed readiness to travel to Calabar for the royal festivity.”.
Also speaking, spokesman of the spiritual organization, Christ Ambassador Edet Archibong said they were expecting top religious and society dignitaries to converge at the world headquarters of the spiritual organization for the one week event climaxing on Sunday 14 April 2019.
“More than 20 archbishops have also confirmed interest. The lists of Bishops and other top functionaries in Nigeria who are coming are long”, Archibong said.
He listed array of socioeconomic contributions and achievements which the spiritual leader has made in both Cross River State and Nigeria as a country rough establishment of array of enterprises where thousands of Nigerians and foreigners have been engaged profitable.
He said the spiritual leader as an entrepreneur is the second biggest employer of labour in Cross River State after the government.
He also disclosed that Obu has given out innumerable scholarships to students in local and foreign universities without blowing trumpet.
