Distinguished Party Leaders, elders, stakeholders and ever resilient members of our great party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), it is with a high sense of responsibility and my strong belief in our collective ability to live up to the desired expectations of Imo people that I address you today as we inaugurate our Campaign Council.
Undoubtedly, the journey has not been easy but by God’s special grace, we have continued to record intimidating successes to the chagrin of our political opponents.
Reports clearly indicate that Imo people desirous of a complete departure from the horrific style of governance that has been foisted on them, earnestly yearn for a return of the PDP to the seat of power both at the federal level and in Imo State.
The PDP as a party with people merited vision and mission, has become the beautiful bride of Imo people among the various political parties jostling for the people’s mandate. This to me, is a morale booster which we must leverage upon to provide a sustainable socio-economic and political road-map to recover and rebuild Imo State in concomitance with the expectations of the people.
It is to actualize this task that the party in its wisdom, resolved to set up a broad-based Campaign Council. The essence is to ensure that all hands are on deck for a seamless campaign exercise dorm to the grassroots (i.e. the wards).
The electoral battle ahead requires total commitment, sincerity of purpose and doggedness. There is no room for laxity or jamboree. In other words, membership of the Campaign Council or any of its Sub-Committees is a clarion call for service. As party members, we must show patriotism and absolute loyalty in the discharge of any assignment given to us.
My party leaders, elders and members, I wish to inform this gathering that our campaigns will adopt a unitary structure format unlike in the past where individual candidate ran individual campaigns. This concept means that there will be simultaneous campaigning for all our party’s candidates from the presidential to the State House of Assembly levels at any campaign rally.
We want to avoid pit-falls or set-backs for any of our candidate. As a compact team, we can break barriers and win more supporters (voters) for the party than when we operate individually. United we stand, and divided we fall.
Furthermore, a unitary campaign structure saves time, cost bonds party members intimately and of course, reinforces strength in unity. It is also imperative to inform this respected assemblage of our party members that the composition of the Campaign Council and its Sub-committees were meticulously done to ensure a broad-based structure. In this rein, therefore, National Officers of our party, BOT members, candidates and our leaders are all included in the council. Others include our National Assembly members, State Working Committee members of our party, former elected and appointed officers of the party and past ALGON members of the party. Equally in the council are volunteer/support groups, interest groups and chairmen of various LGA’S Campaign Councils.
The Sub-Committees include but not limited to:
• Campaign Security
• Support/Volunteer Groups
• Trade/Allied Groups
• Pensions/Civil Servant
• General Mobilization
• PDP Babes
• Town Unions/Socio-Cultural
• Welfare/Chairmen of LGA Campaign Council
Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, it is crystal clear, deducing from the above, that the task ahead is onerous but achievable. It requires hard work, ingenuity and selflessness. Nothing good ever comes easy.
I therefore, charge all members of the Campaign Council and the various Sub-Committees to:
• To mobilize all segments of our party members and ensure that everybody is carried along.
• To mobilize all segments of the electorates to vote for PDP candidates across board. Our manifestoes should be made available to the voters.
• To educate and sensitize voters against vote buying, rigging and the costly dangers of allowing themselves to be manipulated or induced into taking regrettable actions afterwards.
• To unite and mobilize our members into participating actively during campaigns and on election day.
• To raise funds for committee works.
• To de-emphasize quest for money in the course of rendering service for the party.
• All committees and their members must operate down to the LGA’s and Wards for effective mobilization.
• To make sure all electoral booths are delivered to our party.
• And very importantly, Committee members should avoid the temptation of hanging around our capital city.
They must move down to all the nooks and crannies of Imo State and preach the gospel of recovering and rebuilding Imo State we all desire.
Having stated this, I want to express my immense gratitude to members of the Campaign Council and the various Sub-Committees for accepting to serve the party.
I remain indebted to you all and assure you that your services will not be in vain. My word my bond.
I also charge each and every one of us to redouble our efforts ahead of the general election. We should not rest on our oars until PDP clinches total victory during the elections.
Thank you and may God bless all of us.

Governorship Candidate, PDP Imo State /Former Deputy Speaker, Federal House of Representatives
