Breaking: Ganduje Appoints Ado Bayero’s Son, Three Others As Emirs

The Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, has appointed four new Emirs, including the son of late Emir of Kano, Ado Bayero, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, to oversee the four newly created Emirates in Kano.
The Emirs were appointed on Friday despite a court ruling barring the State Government from going ahead with the appointments.
For Karaye, Rano and Gaya Emirates, the government upgraded their District Heads to first class Emirs for their Emirates.
They are Sarkin Karaye, Alhaji Tafida Abubakar ll; Sarkin Gaya, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdulkadir Gaya; and Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar ll for Rano Emirate.
The State Commissioner of Information, Malam Muhammad Garba, confirmed the development.
Garba said the new emirs would receive their letters of appointment on Saturday at Sani Abacha Indoor Stadium.
Until his appointment as emir, Bayero was the Wamban Kano, a position given to him by the present emir of Kano, Muhammed Sanusi II.
This was after Sanusi promoted the former Wambai, Alhaji Abbas Sanusi, to the rank of Galadima following the death of late Galadiman Kano, Tijjani Hashim. Meanwhile, a High Court in Kano on Friday stopped the State Governor, Umar Ganduje, from splitting the Kano Emirate into four.
The House of Assembly had on Thursday passed a bill empowering the Governor to split the Emirate into four.
The Bill was immediately signed into law by Ganduje.
Followers of development in the state believe the move was targeted at the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, who was opposed to the Governor’s reelection bid.
