With two goals from striker, Odion Ighalo and another from Arsenal forward, Alex Iwobi, Cameroun, Nigeria’s sent her arch rival and defending champion of the African Cup of Nations out of the 2019 edition of the highest football tournament, on Saturday.
The match played at Alexandra, Egypt’s second biggest city, saw Nigeria down by two goals to one after the Super Eagles led by one goal and later conceded two in three minutes, before half time. The Eagles came back at the resumption of play, with Ighalo, who scored the first goal, getting a second that put Nigeria at a 2-2 tally, before making a superb pass through the open leg of a Camerounian defender for on-coming Iwobi to slot the ball into the net after beating the outrushing goalkeeper.By the victory with which they obviously redeemed themselves after a humiliating 2-0 defeat in the hand of Madagascar, at the group stage, placing them in the second position ahead of the round of 16, Nigeria would be facing the host nation Egypt or South African in the quarter finals of the game.
