The Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, and the All Progressives Congress (APC) have been floored in the Imo State governorship election as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Emeka Ihedioha, has been declared the winner.
Ihedioha was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Monday night.
The PDP candidate scored 273,404 votes to defeat the candidate of the Action Alliance (AA), Uche Nwosu, who is Okorocha’s son-in-law.
Okorocha, a member of the APC, had thrown his weight behind the candidature of Nwosu, who also left the ruling party at the federal level for the AA to actualise his governorship ambition.
The candidate of the APC, Senator Hope Uzodinma, scored 96,458 votes.
Senator Ifeanyi Araraume of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) scored 114,617 votes.
