More reactions have continued to trail the just concluded local government elections in Akwa Ibom State, with the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP) and the Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) commending Governor Udom Emmanuel for conducting a peaceful and transparent election.
In a press statement signed by the Chairman of CNPP, Engr. Williams Ikpe, and Secretary General, Elder Andy Uduobuk, the party which participated in the contest, stated that the election was free and credible; congratulating all the winners in the race.
“We commend the state Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, for living up to his promises by creating an enabling environment for the conduct of the election which was participated by 12 registered political parties in the state.”
“We therefore congratulate winners of the election for their well deserved victory, and urge them to see their victory as a call to render the needed services to their people at the third tier of government irrespective of party affiliation.”
CNPP also commended the Akwa Ibom State Independent Electoral Commission (AKISIEC) for conducting what it described as ‘one of the most peaceful and transparent elections in recent times’, saying that it has done creditably well.
The conference further reiterated that it was not aware of any incident of death as claimed by the APC during the contest which was very unprecedented, and gave kudos to the security agencies for a job well done.
The Conference of Nigerian Political Party (CNPP) is an established and recognized body of all registered political parties in Nigeria and operating in Akwa Ibom State.
It could be recalled that the political parties in the State under the aegis of Inter Party Advisory Council IPAC, Monday, issued a press release commending Akwa Ibom state government and the electorates for the peaceful conduct of the elections in all the centres monitored across the state.
The release signed by the state Chairman of IPAC, Engineer Martins Inyang and the Publicity Secretary, Barr Mfon Peter, commended Governor Udom Emmanuel for promoting participatory democracy and for the peace and security recorded throughout the entire electioneering period.
The IPAC team later paid a congratulatory visit to the State Chairman of the People Democratic Party, Obong Paul Ekpo at his residence.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Barr. Mfon Peter who is the publicity Secretary of IPAC and state Chairman of United Democratic Party UDP, congratulated the PDP for winning all the seats in the election and appealed to the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party to admonish the elected chairmen and councillors to see their victory from the egalitarian perspective and work for the interest of the state.
Barr. Mfon also used the opportunity to commend Akwa Ibom State Independent Electoral Commission for conducting free and credible elections.
