Government of Cross River State has extended lavish supports to a set of triplets delivered prematurely in Ikom, in central part of the state.

Governor Ben Ayade immediately responded when the news broke by directing the Director General of the state Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Betta Edu to move in and assist.

The three children were delivered almost simultaneously in a Primary Heath Centre, called Holy Family Clinic in Ofunbogha near Ikom in  State.

The name of the mother was not immediately available but the father , Mr. Onung Achori Okoi has expressed gratitude to God for sparing the life of his wife and the new children although he has appealed to government and public spirited persons for supports.

Edu provided a generator to power the clinic in order for the incubator housing the three new babies to enable them survive.

She has also made provision for food and clothes for the new babies. Other donations were gotten from the Primary Health Care Centre, Ikom while kindhearted Nigerians, Mrs. Anthonia Owan and Mrs. Getty Ogboche gave some financial assistance to ensure that the babiCross River Govt Lavishes Supports To Premature Triplets es survive.

Edu maintained that the state government and her staff at Ikom will give every support to the family to keep mother and babies alive.

“We commend the quality of service rendered at Primary Health Centre Ofunbogha by our front line health workers, we commend the promptness with which they referred them to a higher level of care. We must make those sacrifices and act beyond ordinary to prevent increase in number of women and children that die daily!”

Father of the triplets said he is overwhelmed by the prompt response of government and individuals to assist him and the triplets, noting that they were referred to Calabar but he had no money on them to move while the babies were gradually dying.
