Ekpo, Calabar Residents Jubilate Over Duke’s Emergence As SDP Flag Bearer

Former attorney general of Cross River State and flag bearer of the Social Democratic Party for next year’s governorship election, Eyo Ekpo has said the emergence mof former governor of the state, Mr Donald Duke as the presidential candidate of the party portends much more to the party and the people of the state.

Ekpo who spoke to journalists in Calabar congratulated Duke and said he will certainly make greater impact and even win the presidential election.

Ekpo said the emergence of Duke was very illustrative and meaningful to upcoming presidential race.

Ekpo was called on the youths and all residents and people of the state to give their full supports by way of giving their votes to the former governor.

“I am not only elated at my friend’s and mentor’s emergence as the presidential candidate of our great party. I have no doubt in my mind that Donald Duke will not only make impact but will soon come out victorious”, Ekpo said.

Also, the jubilations across parts of the state which started as soon as the news was broken that Duke won the SDP presidential primaries has continued.

In Calabar South local government area of the state, young men and mostly Efik indigenes  and admirers of the ex-governor, many were seen at popular joints drinking, analyzing and dancing.

They hailed the former governor as one that transformed and popularised the state in the international community, and attracting human and business traffic into the state.

Ekpenyong Etim, 32, who is one of the youth leaders in the Anantigha suburbs of the state said “We have to hail and back our man who has made his aspiration come alive. This is one Efik man that dreams big and goes to great length to ensure that he realises such tall dreams.

” We are going to intensify our prayers and mobilisation to back our man. We love him. His aspiration should be seen as our collective aspiration”, Etim said.
