Imo North: Araraume Drags APC to Court


…As Supporters Protest in Owerri

Former Senator representing Okigwe zone in the upper Chamber of the National Assembly, Ifeanyi Araraume has dragged his party, the All Progressives Congress-APC to Court for not submitting his name to the Independent National Electoral Commission-INEC as candidate for the October 31st election in the area.

The suit with number: FHC/OW/CS/102/2020 also has the candidate of the party for the October Senatorial election, Frank Ibezim and one other as defendants is pending before a Federal High Court Vacation Judge, Federal High Court 4, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Meanwhile, stakeholders of Okigwe Senatorial zone loyal to Senator Araraume, Tuesday, protested at the Imo State INEC office and Government House, Owerri, over what they described as imposition of candidates.

Displaying placards with inscriptions “we say no to injustice; recognize Senator Araraume; we say no to imposition; among others, the protesters insisted that Senator Ifeanyi Araraume remains their preferred candidate to replace late Senator Benjamin Uwajumogu in the Senate.
