The immediate past deputy governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere has called on the staff of Deputy Governor’s Office to accord the same service they rendered him to his successor, Engr. Gerald Irona because he is a man of conscience.

In his words, “In all these anguish, you never gave up. You gave me all the needed support to still make this office one of the most productive if not the most productive in the history of the office of the deputy Governor. A peep into our score card will baffle you. I say so with so much confidence and gratitude to you all”.
He listed the achievements of his office while as deputy governor as settling of boundary issues and re-activating the office of the Surveyor-General, co-operate governance in line with international best practices, Rural Access and Mobility Project (RAMP), which provided about 400 kilometres of roads with river crossings to communities, additional financing of FADAMA III project, voluntarily wading into the challenges with health aid blockade against aides for those living with HIV/AIDS.

“I commend the Army, Police, Civil Defence Corps and others who co-operated with us and performed so gallantly to return the state back to the status of most peaceful states in the federation.
“I am sure that most people may not know how we were able to tackle the challenges of refuse and pollution in the city of Owerri. The blueprint with which is being used was designed by my team. It was during the time Hon. Okey Dike was the General-Manager of Imo State Environmental Transformation Commission (ENTRACO).
“It was a daunting task but we achieved it and even brought cost of waste management to the barest minimum. I want to use this opportunity to commend Chief Ikedi Ohakim for his Clean and Green Initiative. It was a huge success. It challenged me.
“It cost us sleep to join in the fray between the cold hours of 1 am and 4 am for days and weeks to be able to come up with a reliable blueprint with my team. That effort has remained relatively effective and efficient till date.
“In labour relations, we have done quite a bit. At no time did we ever fail to ensure that we did not have long severed relationship with our workers when we had the opportunity of managing this area. It is on record that when Labour was under my watch, there was no such thing as strike because I ensured effective engagement with 50-50 consideration.
“For our contribution in the Traditional Institutions, our performance stands out with integrity of service. We managed the issue of autonomous communities and ezeship tussle with respite as God granted us the grace and wisdom to do what was right.
“Today, nobody can come to accuse us of partiality or gratification. I salute the courage, dedication and commitment of my staff led by no other than our Principal Secretary, Comrade Nze Obinna Aharanwa and other principal officers”.
