The Group Managing Director of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Dr. Maikanti Baru has promised the corporation would assist Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) in ensuring NTA ” beam live the 32nd Edition of African Cup Of Nation to million viewers in Nigeria.
The NTA is shopping for 1.8m Euros (1.17B Naira) to beam live signals of the Edition.
The Director General of the NTA, Yakubu Ibn Muhammad disclosed this in a special visit to the GMD of NNPC Dr. Baru in his Abuja office on Wednesday.
Mr. Muhammad said they had paid upfront an undisclosed amount to acquire rights to transmit the 52 matches to Nigerians.
The GMD of NNPC promised to do anything within the Corporation’s power to ensure Nigerians get to know what is happening to their darling team, the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
Twenty-four nations are participating in the soccer fiesta that will be hosted by Egypt.
The NTA will have live studios in Nigeria and Egypt to connect live broadcasts from six venues across Egypt.
Many sports fans have missed live broadcasts of sporting events across the world due to lack of corporate sponsorship.
Although the tournament opens with hosts Pharaohs of Egypt against Zimbabwe on Friday night, the Super Eagles of Nigeria will open their campaign against the Swallows of Burundi at 2000 hours on Saturday.
