Oni Versus Fayemi: Supreme Court Fixes April 18 For Judgment

The Supreme Court has fixed April 18 as the day of judgment in the suit filed by former Governor Olusegun Oni against Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, over who is the eligible candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in last year’s governorship election in the state
The date was announced after the panel of justices hearing the matter concluded sitting on Tuesday in Abuja.
Oni, former Deputy National Chairman, South of the APC, is challenging the eligibility of Fayemi to contest last May’s primary of the party without resigning his position as the Minister of Solid Minerals.
Oni is averring that without resigning his ministerial position, Fayemi’s participation in the primary should be declared null and void and as the runner up in the exercise, he (Oni) should be declared the authentic candidate of the party.
Fayemi, after the primary, was declared the winner in the main election held last July ahead of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Prof. Kolapo Olusola.
Olusola too has gone to the apex court to challenge Fayemi’s electoral victory.
