Rivers Police Rescues Kidnapped NYSC Members

    The Rivers State Police Command have confirmed the rescue of six kidnapped persons after storming a forest at Evekwu in Emohua LGA, where six Kidnap Victims were rescued.
    In a statement made available by the Command, “at about 0730 Hrs on Saturday 23rd of June, 2019, in our sustained and unrelenting efforts in tackling criminality on the East/West Road, operatives of the Rumuji Police Station in a sting Operation led by the DPO, Chief Superintendent of Police, Ademola Adebayo, stormed a forest at Evekwu in Emohua LGA, where six Kidnap Victims were rescued.
    The Victims, including four National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members were amongst those abducted last week in a commercial Bus travelling from Lagos to Port Harcourt.
    They are: Onyema Easter Ogechi (female), Nnaji Chioma (female), Ogeh Florence (female), Akinduro Abel (male), Franklin Ayama (female) and Akinpelu Solomon (male).
    The police command stated that they were rescued unhurt and have been debriefed and theur families have been contacted for necessary hand over.
    Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Usman A. Belel has ordered an increase in security on the East/West, to stem the tide and arrest perpetrators.
    Earlier yesterday, a notorious kidnapper and armed robbery kingpin Mr. Zulu Ogwumike aka Black Bush was killed by the same Operatives in a gun duel.
    The onslaught against criminals in the state is getting fiercer and will be sustained until they are history, Belel stated.
