The Homicide Section of the Lagos State Police Command has launched a manhunt for a domestic servant, Joseph Ode Monday Ogede, who allegedly murdered his colleague in cold blood and disappeared.
The incident, which occurred on Saturday at Magodo Phase 2, Lagos, has plunged members of the household where Ogede worked into shock and mourning.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, while confirming the incident, disclosed that the fleeing suspect returned to the his former place of work to carry out the dastardly murder.
It appeared he was not too happy with his dismissal and the manner it came.
According to Elkana, the suspect was sacked after an incident happened in the household where he was employed as one of the domestic staff.
The image maker added: “After he was sacked, he returned to the house, claiming that he came to collect his things.
“Everyone believed him.
“It was after he had left that it was discovered that he had killed the security guard.
“He killed the guard with a knife.
“He is presently on the run.
“It’s only a matter of time before we catch him.
“He can’t get away.”
When Elkana was asked further questions on the murder, he said: “The only thing I can add right now is that we are still investigating the matter.
“I don’t have some information at the moment.”
Even as police man-hunt for him gets underway, Ogede’s former employer has promised a handsome reward for anyone with useful information on how to arrest him.
The information has also been shared on different social media sites, with a conspicuous photograph of Ogede.
Meanwhile, it has been gathered that the murdered security guard is a father and husband.
