The Ogoni Oil and Gas Landlords Association alongside Oil Wells and Oil Spill Sites Landowners in Rivers State have called on the Spiritual Leader of Brotherhood of the Cross and Star, His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu at his vestry in Calabar.
Chairman of the associations, Barrister Benjamin Jiji, said that the purpose of the visit was to strengthen the relationship existing between them and the religious leader and to commend him for his support and counsel they enjoyed.
He said his regular interventions have tremendously assisted their association to make better inroads into the industry and expand.
In an address presented during the visit, Jiji enumerated the gains they have garnered in recent times and was optimistic that better days were ahead.
“We have enjoyed much from our relationship with you. Your regular interventions and prayers have made greater effects on our association, the reason we have come all the way to express our joy.
“We have been faring well despite the challenges of misunderstandings between ourselves and the Rivers State Government. We appealed to the Holy Father to continue to intervene for us”, Jiji said.
Also speaking during the visit, the Consultant of the Body, Abdullahi Maxwell Peters, disclosed that the associations have strove to apply the spiritual leader’s teaching, saying it has helped them.
He praised Obu for his steadfastness and for being a unifying factor for the people of Niger Delta and a philanthropist par excellence.
Responding, Obu charged the oil players to persist in honest business dealings and never try to cheat their customers for doing so will be tantamount to cheating themselves.
He assured that he will continue to extend his supports and other interventions necessary to sustain and expand their associations to create more employment opportunities for the youths.
