We Are Under Siege In Ogboko – SUG

The Students Union Government of Imo State College of Nursing, Okporo has stated that its attention has been drawn to a version of online publications which tend to misinform the general public of the true happenings in the Imo State College of Nursing.
According to a press release signed by com. Francis Franklin chimankpa, SUG President of the school, the publications had alleged that some hoodlums from Mbaise invaded the school at the instance of the governor of the state.
He stated that this sounds ridiculous and has no iota of truth in it.
“As official mouth piece of the students of Imo State College of Nursing,Okporo, we make bold to set the records straight, bearing in mind that some mischievous elements whose stock in trade is to misinform the general public by sponsoring street urchins to attack the school are on the prowl.
“Contrary to their claims, we were on Friday harassed and molested by select youths of Ogboko who even told us that they were invited to deal with us by hostel and hotel owners of the area.
“The said ‘stakeholders’ had the belief that our presence in Ogboko would attract patronage to their businesses”.
It would be recalled that the outgone governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha had almost at the end of his tenure relocated the Imo State college of Nursing to Ogboko, Ideato South Local Government Area because it’s his home town which did not go down well with the students.
“As students leaders of the institution, we officially wrote to the government of the untold hardship we were subjected to and several thefts that had taken place there.
“In our letter, we hinted the governor through the Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Uche Onyeguocha how many of our female students had stopped going to school owing to attempts and threats to invade the school by hoodlums who are also villagers of the new location.
“It is therefore inexplicable that some persons for political reasons are alleging that outsiders at the instance of the Imo government were responsible to the attacks on our students and destruction of school vehicles.
“It is on record that earlier before now, hoodlums had invaded the school and made away with the only  generator set available to the school, leaving us in total darkness.
“Those who want to have on the spot analysis should visit school at Ogboko to know how uninhabitable the new site is”
They called on the government of the day to investigate the ugly development which if not the professional way the management of the school handled it, would have gone out of hand and casualties recorded.
