More than 1000 queries have yet been given to staff of University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH), Prof Archibong Edem Archibong within three months, director of administration has said.
He said when the new Chief Medical Director, Prof Ikpeme Ikpeme assumed leadership of he hospital, he made it clear that he wanted to clean up the image of the hospital.
Archibong said that before now there was very poor attitude to work at the hospital which led to unnecessary casualties and loss of manpower.
According to him, the issuance of the queries has presently achieved desired aims as all the staff have sat up and are conscientious to the jobs they are being paid to do.
“Since the resumption of Prof Ikpeme as the new CMD of UCTH we are witnessing remarkable changes both I’m aesthetics and staff attitude to work. Perhaps you can recall that there was pronounced apathy by staff to their assigned jobs at the hospital but now all that have changed.
“We have issued over 1000 queries, and also set up panels against erring staffers. These have made the staff to be duty conscious. They are punctual to work. They now treat patients with respect and promptly as against before.
“When you come to the wards and premises of the hospital you will immediately notice remarkable changes in cleanliness and aesthetics”, he said.
