Former Governor of Cross River State and presidential aspirant on the platform of the Social Democratic Party, Mr Donald Duke has told Professor Ben Ayade that he has failed as governor of the state and should therefore resign immediately.
Duke said the continued stay of Ayade as governor of the state even within the few months remaining before the general elections will spell doom for the state.
He has also asked members of the National Assembly from the state to equally resign because, according to him, they have combined to plunder the state into hopelessness.
Duke who introduced his former attorney general and commissioner for justice, Mr Eyo Okon Ekpo as the governorship candidate of the SDP, said Ayade has drastically taken the state back, and if something very serious was not done to save the state, the future of the state would be extremely bleak.
He said he decided to keep quiet over what he described as appalling situation in the state until now because he thought the government would be proactive.
“if we allow Cross River State to go the way it is now, we might not have it anymore, and our collective struggle over the decades would go down the drain.
“We have to do something about it now by dislodging clowns from power. We need to retire the governor, retire all the National Assembly members. Clowns who budget N1.3 Trillion must go. With the formidability of SDP, we are poised to recover and rescue the state. Cross River is plunged into hopelessness. The situation has gotten worse.”
Duke claimed Eyo Ekpo has the capacity and integrity to govern the state, using the spirit and character of their government.
